I LOOOVE to read, but sometimes it is a few months between books because I need a break from being so emotionally invested in the characters and their lives. Especially if there is romance involved. Oh mylanta! If the two main characters are in love and can't be together for whatever reason, and I think they should be...UGH! It's like my brain digs in it's claws to the book and won't let go. For example... last September while perusing the newest editions to the library I found a book called The Innocent by Posie Graeme-Evans. What started out at an amused curiosity turned into a feverish reading frenzy. AJ was out of town for a week long field trip (Who has field trips in college? People who study plants and dirt, that's who) so I was using every moment to plunge into the world of castles, courtiers, and court intrigue. Then it got to the point where either everything starts on the path to ending well or just making me cry. When I got to this point in The Innocent I realized there was not enough of the book left for it to end ok. I tell you I just about put the book down right then, but my silly heart said, "Keep reading something wonderful could happen!" It didn't. I was so upset and hormonal from being pregnant that I cried. I cried and cried, threw that book into the library return with much anger, then ate an entire box of Swiss Miss Rolls (no judge zone here). For days after I would think about Anne and Edward and lament at their loss of each other. Fast forward about two months to where I find out this book is part one of THREE books! Hallelujah! I made haste and ordered the other two books...and they still didn't end up together! No no no no no no! Not ok!
The same goes for movies or tv. When we were watching the first season of "Once Upon A Time" I was so upset about Snow White and Prince Charming not knowing who they were and not being able to be together. They had true love for crying out loud! When they finally got their memories back my heart soared and all was well with the world again.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who does this.
